What is a resistor:
A resistor is a passive two-terminal electrical component that implements electrical resistance as a circuit element.Fixed resistors have resistances that only change slightly with temperature, time or operating voltage.
Resistors can be fabricated in a variety of ways. The most common type in electronic devices and systems is the carbon-composition resistor.  The resistance depends on the proportion of carbon to clay; the higher this ratio, the lower the resistance.

The resistor is a component that resists the current. If you add a resistor in series with a circuit – the current in the circuit will be lower than without the resistor.

The resistor is a passive device and doesn’t do anything actively to your circuit.

It’s actually a pretty boring device. If you add some voltage to it, nothing really happens.
