Alcohol Breath Analyzer Using IoT
Alcohol Breath Analyzer Using IoT Drunk driving continues to be a leading cause of road accidents, despite awareness campaigns and stricter laws. To address this issue, we developed an IoT-based Alcohol Breathe Analyzer system. This project is designed to detect the alcohol level in a driver’s breath and automatically prevent vehicle ignition if the level exceeds a predefined limit. Consequently, this system enhances road safety and enforces responsible driving behavior.
The system operates by integrating an MQ-3 alcohol sensor with an Arduino Nano microcontroller. As the driver breathes near the sensor, it measures the concentration of alcohol. The sensor’s resistance changes based on the alcohol content, which is then converted into a digital signal via the ADC (Analog to Digital Converter). If the alcohol level remains below the set threshold, the vehicle engine (represented here by a motor) is allowed to start. Otherwise, the system restricts ignition, effectively stopping a potential accident.
In addition to its core functionality, the project offers several advantages. It is compact, low-cost, and easy to implement in real-world vehicles. Moreover, this solution supports traffic authorities in their efforts to monitor and control drunk driving more efficiently.
The system also allows further extension through IoT features. For instance, authorities or vehicle owners can receive alerts via mobile or cloud-based platforms, improving monitoring and response times.
In summary, the Alcohol Breathe Analyzer project not only promotes safer roads but also demonstrates how simple automation and IoT can lead to life-saving applications. With practical implementation and scalability in mind, this system is ideal for both academic purposes and real-time deployment.
