The Anti-Sleep Alarm Circuit is a smart and low-cost electronic solution designed to keep drivers awake and alert, especially during night drives. Fatigue and drowsiness are major causes of highway accidents at night, often triggered by prolonged exposure to oncoming headlights. This circuit combats that risk by generating intermittent beeps and flashing lights to keep the driver attentive.

How It Works:

This circuit is based on a light-dependent resistor (LDR) that enables the device to work only at night. During the day, light falling on the LDR keeps transistor T1 conducting, which disables the oscillator in IC CD4060, preventing any alerts. At night, in darkness, T1 turns off and T2 conducts, activating the 4060 oscillator. It begins a 15-minute timing cycle where it alternates between being active and inactive.

When active, the NE555 timer (IC2) generates one pulse every 50 seconds, which is fed into IC CD4017, a decade counter. After 6 minutes, LED2 flashes and a buzzer sounds as a warning. If the driver doesn’t press the reset switch (S1), the system escalates to activate IC CD4093 (IC4), which creates an oscillating signal to drive the piezobuzzer and white LEDs for an additional 15 minutes. This continuous cycle ensures the driver is consistently reminded to stay awake.
